Though its heydey has long past, this legendary mountaintop resort calls itself a Victorian castle and remains a Shangri-La for walkers. It is a National Historic Landmark with surrounding lands that can leave you breathless. Dinners and breakfast and lunch buffets are very expensive. Expect dinner entrees such as oven-roasted rack of lamb and seared Tasmanian salmon. Reservations are required.
