Things To Do: Restaurants

Alchemy Bistro & Bar

New American cuisine with French and Italian accents is the theme at this Main Street bar and bistro. The creative menu is very expensive. Selections include polenta, kale and red onion; roast half chicken with spring vegetables, and ricotta ravioli with asparagus and walnuts. more...

Atria

The "Mediterranean and Asian inspired" food is top-notch, but It better be with the sky-high prices that abound here and other Edgartown restaurants. At the elegant upstairs dining room, you'll find appetizers like Point Judith calamari and Middle Eastern lamb meatballs (each $17). Entrees such as Prince Edward Island mussels start at $34. New York strip steak with shoestring potatoes ($42) and pan-roasted duck breast ($36) are some other choices. The small, brick-walled cellar is a happening bar scene, though it can get crowded. The bar menu is less expensive and offers such tasty items as a seared tuna sandwich and Moroccan spiced lamb. more...

Chesca's Restaurant

Chesca's serves expensive "coastal-based Italian and urban American fare that bridges upscale and comfort food." Small plates, ranging from $16 to $28, include homemade gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce, wild mushrooms and sage; Thai chili-grilled shrimp, and seafood paella. Entrees include lobster risotto ($36), braised beef short ribs ($36) and Black Angus New York sirloin ($38). You can sip a cocktail in a rocking chair on the front porch or listen to live music on Thursdays during the summer in the courtyard, more...

Isola

The best pizza place in town offers such pies as Buffalo chicken, prosciutto and crimini and portobella mushroom with spinach and white truffle oil. More expensive Italian fare is also served. Entrees include eggplant rollantini, braised beef ravioli and seared scallops. Numerous wines and draft craft beers are available. more...

l’etoile

The l'etoilel restaurant, located at The Sydney hotel in a former whaling captain's home, tries to use native ingredients as often as possible. The Charlotte Inn

The Charlotte Inn is the island’s only Relais & Chateaux hotel. Aiming to recreate the grand lifestyle of Edwardian-era England, the inn's buildings are an elegant compound of meticulously restored whaling captains' homes. The rooms are filled with antiques. The Terrace Restaurant celebrates American cuisine with European accents. more...

The Port Hunter

The restaurant says it's "fortunate to know" some farmers and fishermen, enabling the eatery to focus on local foods. The prices are not cheap, but they are a relative bargain compared to other island restaurants. Expect such fare as grilled clams ($12), grilled local corn ($9), fish tacos ($18), flounder and chips ($21) and hanger steak ($26). The Port Hunter has Edgartown's most extensive schedule of live musical entertainment. more...
