From the George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal at 178th St., (reachable by the Eighth Ave. subway line) in Manhattan, take Red and Tan Bus Lines to Piermont. It's under a 45-minute ride except during rush hour. Get the schedule at Rockland Coaches, Inc.
From Manhattan, cross the George Washington Bridge into New Jersey. Take exit 74/Palisades Pkwy. north. Follow the parkway about 10 1/2 miles to exit 4/Rte. 9W. Turn left onto Rte. 9W and proceed 2.2 miles. Turn right onto Rockland Rd. Proceed 1/10 of a mile, and turn right into the entrance of Tallman Mountain State Park. Follow signs to the north picnic area.
