Head north on I-87 (the New York State Thruway). Take the thruway north to exit 18. Follow Route 299 west to New Paltz. Go through the town and continue on Route 299 west until it ends. Turn right onto Routes 44/55 north. Turn left into Lake Minnewaska State Park. Proceed to the main parking area atop the hill, just north of Lake Minnewaska.
From Albany, NY, and points north:
