Most of Long Island's wineries are on the North Fork, a short drive from the Shelter Island ferry dock in Greenport. The wineries produce many superb wines, and their tasting rooms are often uncrowded. There are more than 50 wine producers in the region with 3,000 acres for growing grapes.
