Engaging Getaways and Venues for:
Italy/Tuscany: Fiesole
Driving in central Florence requires a permit, which comes with your hotel stay if you drive into Florence and are staying at a downtown hotel and parking in an authorized lot. While Florence is a small town, it's not for faint-of-heart drivers because of the tangle of one-way roads and pedestrian only zones. Nonetheless, we easily drove from central Florence to Fiesole with the help of GPS.
Bus:
For those with or without a car, Fiesole is easily accessible by Bus No. 7 connecting the Piazza San Marco in central Florence with the Piazza Mino in Fiesole, from which this particular excursion departs.
Car:
Fiesole is reached by car from a series of roads leading northeast of the city. Although it’s relatively easy, we recommend readers use an online or print map and use Fiesole as the destination. The road from Florence winds up a hill changing names along the way. Parking is available through the town gate as you enter the piazza in various parking lots near the Roman theater. Those who visit some of the town’s B&Bs will have to use these after they drop off their luggage, as parking is limited in town.
