On Memorial Day weekend, the plaza at Old Mission becomes a magnet for hundreds of artists who spend days working on large-scale street paintings during the I Maddonari Italian Street Painting Festival.
In August, a five-day citywide fiesta with parades, live performances and a rodeo celebrates Santa Barbara’s Old Spanish Days. The fiesta also aims to educate visitors about the history, customs and traditions of the American Indian, Spanish, Mexican and early American settlers to the area.
