It takes about 3 ½ hours from the capital city of San Jose and 2 ½ hours from the Daniel Oduber international airport in Liberia on the Pacific coast by car. The roads are often scenic but narrow, with few streetlights outside of towns and tourist areas, and poor signage. Most hotels can arrange transportation.
