There are numerous trails and paths to walk or bike in Mishawaka, South Bend and the surrounding area. The Riverwalk in Mishawaka is the crown jewel. The Notre Dame campus in South Bend, which covers more than 1,200 acres, is another great scenic option. A campus map may be helpful. Bikes can be rented at South Bend Bike Rental.
St. Patrick’s Park in South Bend features walking trails, ponds and views of the St. Joseph River on its 398 acres. The park’s Red Barn is one of the largest barns in the county. The Robert J. Fischgrund Center for the Performing Arts accommodates 4.500 people and can be rented May-September.
Cross-Country Skiing, Innertubing and Snowshoeing
The ski trails are groomed regularly, and rental equipment is available at South Bend’s St. Patrick’s Park.
